Finding motivation to exercise during winter can be a challenge, but developing a positive mindset and embracing the weather is the best approach to overcoming the winter exercise blues.

Here are a few tips to help you stay active:

  • Remind yourself of the physical and mental health benefits that exercise offers such as reducing stress, boosting energy levels, and maintaining a healthy weight
  • Set yourself a goal or target such as going for a walk or playing with the dog for a half an hour every day
  • Exercise with a friend for extra motivation and fun. Make sure to commit to set training times as this will keep you from cancelling your plans
  • Look for opportunities to integrate exercise into your day. For example, use the stairs instead of the lift, or hop off the bus a few stops prior to your normal stop
